When Annie and I joined St. Andrew's church in 1977, Gordon and Rosemary invited us to their home for a meal, showing their friendship and hospitality. When they heard that we had spent a year in India, they wondered if God would call us into Wycliffe and Bible translation. Later. that year, they invited us to the Wycliffe Open Day at Horsleys Green, as a result of which we joined Wycliffe. Gordon and Rosemary, both as friends and colleagues, were always ready to offer open friendship, hopsitality and support.
Some time after Annie died, Gordon and Rosemary were among the first to know that Barbara and I were getting married. They continued to show the same love and support to us as a couple, as they had shown to each of us individually, having walked with us both through the pain of bereavement on the death of our partners and then the joy of remarriage.
We will miss Gordon's easy manner and ready smile, and his deep faith and gentle wisdom.
